Improving Your Productivity with OS X Mavericks

OS X Mavericks is a great and free upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion as it comes with a couple of new apps along with some fine updates to existing ones on top of some performance improvements. Some of the new features can boost your productivity too. This should spell good news to active developers that insist on staying on Apple’s platform for the unforeseeable future. Let’s look at the most important features that developers should take advantage of.

Enhanced Multi-Display Support

Connecting a second display to your computer can prove to be beneficial for developers but older versions of OS X didn’t fully take advantage of multi-screen setups. Mavericks finally embraced the highly productive folks by giving each screen its own menu bar and making the dock easier to access. It is also possible to run a full-screen app in each screen so you can finally use a combination of a coding app and graphics software such as Smultron and GIMP in full screen modes.

Greatly Improved Finder

If you don’t have multiple monitors and frequently manage files, you could benefit from the new Finder improvements. You can now have a single Finder window with multiple tabs each containing different folders. This makes file management a lot simpler as you can drag files to different active folders all without cluttering limited your workspace. On top of that, you can assign one or more tags to any file on your computer or iCloud storage. This brings project organization to a whole new level.
