Change the Font in Twitter (or just about any website!)

A couple of days ago, Twitter changed the font from Helvetica Neue to Gotham much to the dismay of a good number of Twitter users. While there is no indication of Twitter planning to reverse this decision, you don’t have to wait for Twitter if you are not a huge fan of the slimmer font. The Chrome Web Store has a free extension called Font Changer which lets your Google Chrome Browser to change the font of a website like Twitter to one of the hundreds of fonts available including good old Helvetica.

All you need to do is install the extension and head to any Twitter page. Then click the newly added “FC” button next to the omnibox to bring up the Font Settings window shown below.

Font Settings

Set the drop-down box to “Custom Settings” so the new font only affects Twitter. Then tick the “Font Name” and set it to any font you like. The font previews may take a few seconds to load as you scroll. Changes are instantaneous so you can easily see if your Twitter experience is improved with the new font.  You may also choose the font style and weight and adjust the font size. Since the changes affect the entire domain, you should notice the new font in any Twitter page you visit.

Also remember that you can use this extension for any other websites like Facebook too as long as “Custom Settings” is set.

Download the extension here.
