Guest blogging is one of the newer SEO techniques that were all the rage because it allowed emerging sites to gain traffic from the more popular ones. But that didn’t stop the head of Google’s webspam team from discouraging others from doing so. It is true that this SEO trick is widely abused by spammers but so is the other SEO techniques. Guest blogging is still a wonderful world to be in as long as you do it correctly and responsively.
Choose Your Relationships Wisely
When you are guest blogging, you are taking the role as a guest for a highly respectable blog where you feel that you can bring something valuable to the blog’s readership. This must remain your focus as well as the blog’s focus or else guest blogging isn’t worthwhile. Avoid working with sites that pose as guest blogging farms or blogs that just accept any kind of content for SEO purposes. Even if you intend to write high quality articles, the site could get flagged by Google eventually as soon as other guest bloggers abuse the site with spammy links.
Evaluate Before Your Post
If Google wants high-quality content on the Web, make sure you do just that because there are no cheap tactics that can work around that rule. Forget about deciding if your post is good SEO material. Instead, evaluate every single word of your post and see if it does offer value to readers. See if it blends well with the style and theme of the other posts so it doesn’t look like a guest post. It is impossible for Google to tell if a blog post is made by a guest so you shouldn’t even bother tagging it as a guest post either. Let the links do the talking.
